Celebrating 20 Years of the White Hat Ball

It’s been twenty years since the inaugural White Hat Ball.

Over the past two decades, the cyber security community has come together annually, raising an incredible £2.5 million for NSPCC Childline.

This longstanding tradition reflects the industry’s commitment to giving back and transforming the lives of countless children.

Childline, the UK’s dedicated charity for children, provides confidential advice and support to those in need.

Today, as all our lives increasingly move online, it provides invaluable support to keep children safe in the digital world. From offering guidance on cyberbullying, tackling online threats and supporting those who feel vulnerable, Childline has become a number one source for children looking for help to safely navigate the online world.

With children spending so much of their time online for gaming, studying, connecting with friends or using social media, they are increasingly exposed to cyber risks.

Alarmingly, data has also shown that one in five children in England and Wales have experienced cyber bullying, while many others face additional online threats that can harm their physical and psychological well-being.

Childline is a lifeline for these children, working tirelessly to protect them from such dangers.

Each year, more young people turn to the charity for help, and the funds raised by the White Hat Ball ensure these vital services can continue and that more children can be heard.

Through counselling sessions, online information packs or calls with Childline representatives, children are turning to the charity more than ever to help them keep safe in the digital world.

The event, which is often celebrated as the must-attend night in the cyber security calendar, is far more than just an evening of glamour. It is an opportunity to give back and support one of the UK’s most important causes.
